We are driven as Artists to do things sometimes that are not understood. Motivations that call us to places so we can fulfill a truth. Call it the " Inner Truth Magnet". I came to Northern Arizona University as a student in 1974. I loved the San Francisco Peaks, so I stayed , raised a family, and I taught High School for 25 years! Now I work full time as an Artist.. I create thrown pottery shapes, that are usually altered. I love to use semi precious stones on my Crystalline glazed vases, and I like to create texture on my masks by using leather and lace .

Self portrait 1992.
The concept of the raging mask came to me following a traumatic life experience, people did relate to them and they sold out of galleries quickly.
The masks I made in the 90's are completely different emotionally and spiritually than what they look like now in 2015. Today they are singing, and peaceful like Shamans.

The Raku process is the most immediate. After bisque firing each piece, I mix a glaze from Ceramic minerals, add water, apply , let dry , then fire in an outdoor Raku kiln. The feathers are added later !.
